A powder room, or half bath, is one of the least expensive bathroom remodeling projects you can undertake. Because it’s often the bathroom your guests use, you want it to look good. It should also coordinate with the style in the rest of the area. If yours is terribly out of date or just worn looking, consider working with a bathroom remodeling company on this project.
The reason most powder rooms can be easily remodeled on a budget is you don’t often have room to move the vanity or toilet so there’s no plumbing to change and little changes to the electrical. With that in mind, you may wonder if it’s worth it to make any changes. There are many different things you can do to improve the space. If it feels small, go with lighter colors. If it’s dark even with a light colored vanity, maybe you need a different light fixture.
Small Changes, Big Impact
Although your powder room may currently have a vanity cabinet in it, there are other options. Some sink options include a pedestal sink which can make the room look larger. Another option is a vanity with open shelving below the sink. It provides some storage without the bulk of a cabinet.
If you want to keep your vanity cabinet but make a big change, switch out the countertop and add a vessel sink. It will be a new look but reduce your cost even further. You may be able to reface your existing vanity if it’s still in good shape and you want a new look.
Faucets and Finishing Touches
Although many people want to keep their home consistent with the same finishes on their faucet as their door knob, there’s no rule that says it has to be that way. If you want your bathroom remodel to reflect a specific style, changing out your faucet may be exactly what you need. Of course, you’ll want to also change the toilet paper holder and any towel bars too.
