In most homes a half bath is a guest bathroom. It’s often a fairly small space, sometimes without natural light. Builders tend not to spend a lot of time or money into powder rooms. To them, it’s a place for a toilet and any vanity. Half bath remodels can be fun. Make it a place where you express your personality. Because there’s a door, a powder room doesn’t impact the décor of the rest of the home. Here are some ideas to keep your half bath from looking like an afterthought and make the limited space work really well.
Fun Flooring
Chances are you have some plain white or tan square tiles in your half bath. Why not choose a fun patterned tile? Or put in a visually interesting boarder with a bold color tile below. Because the space is small, you won’t need much tile so it’s the perfect opportunity to choose something show stopping.
Wild Wallpaper
Wallpaper is back. However, instead of plain stripes and cute little flowers, patterns are bold and bright. Best of all, if you choose one of the many options in peel and stick removable wallpaper, when you’re ready to change the décor, taking it down is a breeze. If wallpapering the entire space is a bit too much, add a chair rail and paper the top half and paint a complimentary color on the bottom.
Stately Sink or Vivid Vanity
One of the biggest changes we tend to make in half bath remodels is to the style of sink. If you’re working with a really small space, a pedestal sink or wall mounted one are great options. In spaces with a bit more room, consider a vanity in a fun color you might not choose for your main bathrooms. Or, perhaps consider a furniture style vanity.
